About Thermography and Infrared ImagingIn a NutshellThermography is the measure of minute changes in temperature. It is also called Infrared or IR Imaging. Thermographic technology has revolutionized many aspects of the medical and industrial engineering fields. Thermography offers pinpoint accuracy with regards to the originating areas of pain, as well as an instant, totally non-invasive, radition-free, view of tissue and bone damage making it one of the most valuable tools to horse owners and veterinarians. The equipment is very portable and the IR images can be e-mailed or printed immediately to facilitate the diagnosis process. It is also a great way to validate treatment regiments to be sure your horse is on its way to recovery. AffordabilityThermography is significantly more affordable than traditional x-rays and ultrasounds. While Thermography is not meant to replace traditional x-rays and ultrasounds, it does reduce the number of other "films" needed since the IR camera can quickly identify the area(s) that need to be further analyzed.
